The appellation of Pommard is split in two by a water course which over centuries carved out a valley through the area. This means village vineyards can be found on the lower, flatter slopes (full-bodied, earthy wines with red fruits), and above the 1er Crus in a wide range of expostions giving generally red fruited wines with mineral character and freshness.
